Music Ontario Presents Sync’d Up: A 101 Approach to Music Placements in Film and TV

Wednesday, February 19th, 7pm
Art Gallery of Hamilton Design Annex, 118 James St. North, Hamilton, ON

As the industry undergoes drastic changes, artists and master rights controllers have to create diverse revenue streams in order to stay competitive. Placements in TV, film, commercials, games, and other media can not only create exposure for an artist, but add to the revenue pot as well.

This panel will discuss the mechanics of placements, including which rights need to be cleared and how the artists and rights holders are paid. In addition, panelists will discuss how to get your music noticed, when to pitch them, and the importance of music in their projects.

Panelists will also discuss their roles within the process, providing insight into how, when, and what they do. This will be beneficial for those who want to pitch to them, as well as those aspiring to get involved from an industry point of view.

DJ Dopey at Discography Halloween Session at Baltimore House on Sunday, October 27!

October 15th, 2013

DISCOGRAPHY is Hamilton’s first-ever evolving and constantly changing DJ event featuring a rotating stable of established local DJs that have each either worked at or have been directly influenced by Dr. Disc. The DJs are hand-picked and take DJing back to its roots by playing ONLY vinyl records! No laptops allowed!

Each session takes place every second Sunday at Baltimore House, 43 King William St, and the next DISCOGRAPHY session is a special Halloween edition on Sunday, October 27. The special, headlining DJ for the night is DJ DOPEY, who was crowned DMC World Champion in 2003, which is basically like winning gold in the Olympics of DJing! (To see DJ DOPEY‘s incredible turntablist showcase that won him the title of “World’s Best DJ”, click HERE.)

Also appearing that night is the talented and vinyl-friendly “DJ-about-town” DONNA LOVEJOY who has opened for the likes of Maylee Todd, Javelin, and New Hands. She has also rocked the crowd at The Brain, This Ain’t Hollywood and the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s World Film Festival.

DISCOGRAPHY is specifically for people who love music, versus people that just like “songs,” and it is held on an off-night to allow the best, most popular DJs who play regularly on weekend nights to perform – and play what they want – to a knowledgeable and appreciative audience. You’ll hear anything from Jay-Z to Joy Division; Skrillex to The Supremes.

Due to the limited capacity at Baltimore House it is recommended that you come early to avoid disappointment. (The Thanksgiving Long Weekend DISCOGRAPHY session reached capacity at 11:30 pm!) Doors open at 10:00 pm.

The complete DJ line up for
DISCOGRAPHY - Session Nine: Attack of the Killer DJs,
Sunday, October 27 at Baltimore House
is as follows:

11:00 pm: DJ MARK (Dr. Disc)
12:00 am: DJ ANDY INGLIS
